SOTA welcomes the new class of 2016 and welcome back to the class of 2015!
We hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing summer and a good start to the fall semester. We would like to introduce ourselves and invite you all to get involved and participate in SOTA meetings and events this year.
SOTA (The Student Occupational Therapy Association) is a non-profit, pre-professional, student-run association which aims to benefit the students in the Occupational Therapy department.
The purpose of SOTA is to raise awareness of Occupational Therapy on campus and in the community as well as to provide the students in the Occupational Therapy programs with educational opportunities through workshops and seminars. It also provides opportunities for students to form strong friendships and get information through networking with other students and faculty. It gives students the means to have group socials, engage in fun activities, and help balance the work/education, play/leisure and rest components of their lives.
This year we are focusing on building networks between the cohorts in the OT Department at SJSU as well as other programs and associations both on campus and outside of San Jose State University.
We encourage you to become members. Your membership will benefit you personally as well as your cohort. We will be conducting a membership drive in October and SOTA representatives will visit in your classes to encourage you to join.
We are looking forward to a great year together!
Warmly,
Asa & Barbara
Co-chairs, 2014-15
